Over the last few months the Parish Council has heard of residents falling foul of the planning laws. Most of these cases are where residents believe they have ‘Permitted Rights’ to build an extension or similar when they do not, or the size exceeds the permitted development allowance. There is a very useful tool called the Planning Portal (www.planningportal.co.uk) where you can check if you require planning permission or not. Being a Government joint enterprise the site is surprisingly easy to use and clearly explained. Please check this site if you are planning any building works.
