A six month Job Support Scheme is set to replace furlough from 1 November.
The government will pay two thirds of salary if businesses are forced to close, up to a maximum of £2,100 a month. It gives state support for those who can work some, but not all their hours.
This will also include businesses forced to close because of local or national lockdowns, eg pubs, restaurants, including waiting staff at restaurants that become takeaways. Employers are only responsible for any national insurance and pension payments needed.
