If you are worried about the cost of putting or keeping your heating on, find out about The Warm Home Discount Scheme. Under the scheme you can get £140 off your electricity bill for winter 2020/2021.

The money is not paid to you – it’s a one-off discount on your electricity bill, payable between September and March. You can still qualify for the discount if you use a pre-pay or pay-as-you-go electricity meter. Contact your electricity supplier to find out more.

You may also be able to get the discount on your gas bill instead of your electricity bill, if your supplier provides you with both gas and electricity. Contact your supplier to find out.

The discount will not affect your Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment.

There are two ways to qualify and apply for the scheme:

  1. If you get the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit – you will be sent a letter telling you how to get the discount if you qualify. If you don’t get a letter and you think you’re eligible, call the Warm Home Discount Team on 0800 731 0214.
  2. If you’re on a low income and meet your energy supplier’s criteria for the scheme, check with your supplier to see if you’re eligible and how to apply.
