The government has announced face coverings will be mandatory in shops and supermarkets from 24 July.

Under the new rules, people who do not wear a face covering will face a fine of up to £100, with children under 11 and those with certain disabilities exempt

If individuals without an exemption refuse to wear a face covering, a shop can refuse them entry and call the police, with the police able to issue a fine, although this enforcement is a last resort.

A guide to making your own face covering is also available, which includes advice on safely wearing them. A number of charities are also supporting the campaign for facemask usage, so why not check with your chosen charities to see if they are selling them.

Guidance on how to safely reuse and dispose of your own face coverings and other waste is also available.
