Project Details:
- Water main replacement
- 1200m of new 200mm Ductile Iron water main
- Replacing old 1888 Cast Iron water main which has burst 12 times in the last 10 years
Programme:
- Mid July 2013 – March 2014 (approx. 35 weeks)
- Commence work at jcn of Parkwood Road
- Mainlaying: 12 weeks
- Testing: 6 weeks (no site presence or traffic lights)
- Service Transfers: 15 weeks
- Connections: 2 weeks
Traffic Lights:
- 2-way lights (in 100m sections) on A25 Bletchingley Road, High Street, Nutfield
- 3-way lights at the following junctions:
- Mid Street
- Crossroads (church hill, coopers hill road)
- Manned during peak hours
- “Join flow of traffic” signs at quieter junctions (e.g Hunters Gate and Shortacres)
Proposed Road Closure:
- Church Hill – approx. 6 weeks into project (for 3 weeks)
- To allow for the use of 3-way lights at the crossroads with Coopers Hill Road
- Cormongers Lane will be used as the diversion route
- Advanced warning signs prior to closure
Spoil Storage:
- Investigate the use of the following locations for spoil storage:
- Nutfield Parish Council car park for playing fields
- Bus stop o/s Halfway House
Other:
- Extended working hours (7:30am – 6:00pm)
- Communication with local business prior to works commencement
- Advanced warning signs
